a few people asked some questions about digital scrap booking & Photoshop from my last post. i have only been doing this for a few weeks and i am still learning but i will try to answer the questions you girls had:
Q: Do you need Photoshop to download layouts and put them together? (Jeri)
A: you don't have to have Photoshop to download the layouts, paper, alphabets, embellishments etc. when you download them you can just save them to your computer (i created a scrap book folder under my documents). as far as creating the pages, i don't know of any other programs other than Photoshop that you can use, but i am sure there are other programs available.
Q: Can you print these or would they look weird? (Kate)
A: this was one of my concerns. i put together one page and printed it to see what it would look like. it actually turned out really cute; really clean cut and chic.
Q: Do you know how much Photoshop is? (Cassie)
A: Costco has Photoshop Elements 6 for $79.99 (a super good deal). i have one that also does video editing as well and i think it was around $180 or so (it was a Christmas present so i don't know for sure.)
Q: How do you get the pages printed or bound, etc? (Cassie)
A: i email the pages to Costco and they print them. I am doing the 12x12 size and they have no problem printing that size. it's $2.99 per page which may seem like a lot but it's actually pretty good when you compare it to traditional scrap booking where you have to buy all the paper, the photo prints, alphabet letters, embellishments, glue, etc. with Photoshop you import your own photos and crop them. you have to buy the downloads (many available from $2-$8 and they often include several papers, embellishments, and alphabets) and once you buy them they are yours to keep and you can keep reusing them!
Shabby Princess has a bunch of free downloads right now!!! click here and you can download as many kits as you want from this page for free and they are really cute. if you end up getting Photoshop, let me know if you'd like help getting started, it's super easy and fast. good luck!
(thanks for the tip andrew, that definitely fixed my problem!!!)

So fun!
Steph-
The special interest class that Susan Thiriot is teaching has been super helpful for me to learn about some of the details of photoshop. You should try it sometime.

Also, I use a program called Photosuite by Roxio and it is the easiest, fastest program ever! I love it so much and have also recently taken up digital scrapbooking!
