I took Sadie in for her 4 month check up at 5 months. Her 2 month was at 3 months; we are behind. With the amount of time we've spent at the Dr. for Connor I haven't wanted to throw another Dr. into the mix. Here are her stats:
5 months:
Height: 25 1/4 inches- 50%
Weight: 17 pounds- 75-90%
(Sitting up...kind of at 5 1/2 months)
I mentioned to Sadie's Dr. that her soft spot isn't concave or flat. She agreeded and with her head circumference size jumping from 50% up to 90% she seemed pretty concerned- so she ordered an MRI stat. In a short 48 hours we arrived at the imagine center and they put her under. She didn't like the medicine and ended throwing it up. However, she must have managed to keep some down because with in about 10 minutes she was out cold. It was weird holding her, she seemed so lifeless :(. I was able to carry her to the MRI and stay in the room with her. They covered her ears because the machine at times got really loud. They put a heart and oxygen monitor on her and every time the machine got super loud her heart rate would drop; it must have scared her. Her MRI came back clear :).
Sadie's Dr. is really proactive and thorough and requested we see an opthamolgist to check and make sure nothing is putting pressure on her optic nerve or swelling. That came back clear as well.
A week or so later we visited with a neurologist who assessed her with all the tests and info we've gotten. She says that she is glad that everything is clear. She agrees that her soft spot is fuller, and says it is possible that she has more intra-cranial fluid/pressure than most kids (the neurologist said it is common and called it 'benign intra-cranial pressure'). To throw out numbers she said most kids have 16 (I don't even know what the cranial pressure is measured in, maybe cc's?). She said maybe Sadie's could be around 18 or something (more or less that was just a guess). The only way to measure would be a spinal tap. She doesn't feel that is necessary because Sadie is reaching all her milestones, and has been happy and healthy. At this point we will just watch her development and keep measuring her head. As long as it stays at a constant progression she thinks it's fine. We don't want to see any rapid changes or spikes in the circumference.
These last 2 weeks have been tough. We have gone through all emotions; worried that something serious is wrong with our little Sadie bug. We've given and received lots of prayers. We are grateful for our family and friends who have been so sweet and helpful. We are grateful for where we are at and pray that everything stays positive.
Before the MRI.
Other Milestones at 5 months:
*she loves connor, he can always make her smile.
*she moved into her own room, in her own bed.
*she started rolling over in her sleep onto her tummy, which has opened a whole new can of worms. it wakes her up and she cries, at least 8 -10 times a night. I am not a big fan of crying it out, so I get up and put her binkie in her mouth and roll her back over. She goes right back to sleep. I am tired!
*she still eats 2 times a night. normally around 2:30am and 5:30am.
*she goes to bed at 8:30 and wakes up at 7:30-8am.
*she lovers her jumperoo.
*has great eye and hand coordination.
*she drinks 4 oz every 3 hours and can go 4 hours as well.
*she will still fall asleep in my arms very easily, which makes church very nice.
*she can put her self to sleep for her morning nap and afternoon nap. but her evening nap is a little harder and i usually have to feed her a bottle and rock her.
*she takes 3 naps a day usually her naps are 1 to 1 1/2 hours long.
*she will only cat nap (like 10 mins.) in her carseat, if she falls asleep in it.
*she is a super happy baby and loves to smile.
*she is really content and overall a really easy baby (who sleeps crappy:).
